Gem squash

STOP PRESS!! We’ve just picked the first gem squash of 2015! The skins are nice and dark green, and still slightly soft. A 5kg box is available to order from our online shop via Big Barn I first discovered gem squash on a visit to Zimbabwe in the mid 90’s, when I brought seed back to try in the garden. Since our first year at Kensons Farm in 2000, we’ve been growing gems every year, and spreading the word about this marvellous little vegetable. Nowadays, the seed comes from our plant raiser at Delfland Nurseries. Like so many vegetables, gem squash taste even better grown in a healthy, fertile soil full of organic vitality. gem plant
