The Veg Shed

March/April 2021

The end of March brings with it the beginning of spring and a change in our seasonal veg offerings.

The late season brassica plot, which is planted at the end of July, is harvestable from now. This includes cauliflowers, late cabbages, late season kale and purple sprouting broccoli. We’ve had a combination of unusual weather and possible bad establishment in this plot and seemed to be facing a crop failure. Nature has worked its magic and we seem to actually have some late brassicas to sell. hurray!

The last of the winter harvest will be coming to a complete sell out this week, seeing the end of the field carrots and onions. parsnips and leeks will make it until the end of the month, tunnel spinach also.

We’ll have plenty of salad greens this month and will welcome the mixed lettuce onto the stall and in the shed from mid April.

Liz’s flowers are also coming through so watch out for news on her instagram: kensonsfarmflowers, for up to date daily flower news!

We also have a new exciting enterprise happening on the farm from next month. Adam, one of our growers, is starting a new small venture growing organic SHITAKE mushrooms. These will be available from April on the stall and in the shed. You may be able to buy direct from Adam also. Watch for news!

REMEMBER the time change to Wednesdays in the shed, half day closing finishing at 1pm.

Many thanks, team Kensons.
