Kensons Farm Organic Vegetables near Salisbury in Wiltshire has vacancies for two growers, to join an existing team in full-time permanent roles. Hugh and Liz Collins have been growing at Kensons Farm since 2001, and hosted Soil Association Future Growers trainees for many years. This opportunity would ideally suit growers wishing to build on previous experience, taking part in all aspects of growing quality organic vegetables for year-round production. The grower position may not be suitable for new entrants, due to the knowledge and experience required. However, transferable skills can be applicable and willingness to learn is key.

We grow a full range of Soil Association certified vegetables, sold through our three thriving weekly market stalls and farm shop, and to local box schemes including The Community Farm in Chew Magna. We have 2 acres of asparagus, 2000m2 of polytunnels, an acre of intensive cropping and 14 acres of field scale including fertility building breaks.

The main source of fertility is green manures as well as compost, some of which is made on farm. Cultivations are primarily made by plough and power harrow, and the farm has a good range of implements and equipment. The applicants must be practical minded and generally competent as well as physically fit and energetic.

The work will include planting, weed control, pest management, irrigation and harvesting. The grower’s role is both demanding and rewarding, producing top quality organic veg for a very appreciative customer base.

The position is full time starting early 2022. Employment through PAYE, including holiday pay and pension contributions. Self-contained mobile home accommodation is available.

Please submit CV and covering letter addressed to Hugh, either by post or email to
